Welcome...

I grew up in the Black Country in the West Midlands throughout the 80's and 90's, where many a local trip on the train or a bike ride along the canal would reveal the delights of the Industrial Black Country. You couldn't go far without passing Foundries and factories, where you would be greeted by the sights, sounds and smells of chimney's bellowing out smoke, sparks flying out of a furnace, the clatter of steel being moved and machined, fork lift trucks moving cargo in and out of the factory.

Whilst cycling along the industrial lined canal's I would often stop and watch what was going on in the factory yard or looking through an open door to see the going's on within these factories and foundries.

My interest in Photography was combined with my fascination with Industry in 2001 and 2002 when my Industrial Photography really took off during the start of my BA (Hons) Photography degree at Uclan. During which time I made some fascinating visits to foundries, steel production plants and power stations. My major influences being the Documentary photographer Lewis Hine, who is probably most notable for documenting the construction of the Empire State Building, and the Industrial Photographers Bernt and Hilla Becher.

On this site you will also find images of my other major interest's; Documentary photography and the Architecture of Brutalism.
